Murder On The Orient Express

Murder on the Orient express is a detective fiction written by the Queen of Crime – Agatha Christie. The novel was published in 1934.
Hercule Poirot – Agatha Christie’s most famous detective character plays the central role in the storyline. The author has remarked that the character was made initially by taking inspiration from Sherlock Holmes of Conan Doyle. A murder occurs in the Orient Express in which Poirot travels and the investigation which follows is the plot.
Mr.Bouc, Dr. Constantine, Mrs. Hubbard, Mary Debenham, Col. Arbuthnot, Princess Dragmiroff, Mr. Macqueen, Mr. Ratchett, Count and Countess Adrenyi, Cyrus Hardman – the detective, Antonio Foscarelli, Greta Ohlsson, Hildegarde Schmidt – maid to the princess, Masterman – Ratchett’s valet and Pierre Michel – the train conductor are the major characters in the novel. Mr. Ratchett is the victim and investigation reveals that his real name is Casetti – a murderer and kidnapper of an American child named Daisy Armstrong.
The events in the investigation are extremely interesting and captivating. The cunning and shrewd character of Hercule Poirot is well written and the book is easily one of the best detective fiction books ever written.
